The year-on-year change in consumer prices stood at 0.97 per cent in November compared to 1.0 per cent in October, according to Statistics Finland.

Consumer prices went up most from the previous year due to increase in rents, retail prices of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages and higher prices of restaurant and café services as well as price hike in flat maintenance services, the data show.

The rise in consumer prices was curbed most in November by falling prices of food, liquid fuels and entertainment electronics from the year before.

Consumer prices fell by 0.2 per cent, primarily due to decreases in the prices of liquid fuels and food from October to November as calculated by Statistics Finland.

According to the preliminary data on the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, the rate of inflation in the euro area was 0.3 per cent in November. In October, it stood at 0.4 per cent.
The inflation for Finland was 1.1 per cent in November.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices does not include owner-occupancy, games of chance, interests on consumption and other credits, fire insurance on owner-occupied dwellings or the vehicle tax, the data say.

Eurostat’s estimate of inflation in the euro area is based on preliminary data from the Member States and on the price development of energy.
