The 2G and 3G network of mobile operator Sonera resumed normal operations after a nationwide failure on Tuesday.
Tatu Tuominen, head of communications and public affairs at TeliaSonera, said the fault was identified within a short time and resolved. He added that the network gradually resumed normal operations throughout the country.
The duration of the interference varied slightly, but, according to Tuominen, it lasted for about an hour.
Some of the users had to restart phones before they picked up the network signal.
Tuominen does not remember whether Sonera’s mobile networks had previously been paralysed to the same extent.
During the disruption, Sonera’s fault and disruption online service was jammed, but the company managed to inform their customers via its Twitter account.
