The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 2.8 per cent greater in the past February to April period than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
  
The wages and salaries sum grew by 4.1 per cent year-on-year in April alone.
 
In the February to April period one year ago, the wages and salaries sum contracted by 0.2 per cent.
 
The wages and salaries sum grew in the February to April period in all main industries.
 
The growth in the wages and salaries sum was fastest in construction (5.8 %), private health and social work (4.4 %) and manufacturing (4 %).

The increase of the wages and salaries sum was most moderate in the private sector providing educational services (0.5 %) and trade (1.1 %), the data show.
 
The pay amount in the private sector was 3.8 per cent greater in the February to April period than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier.
 
In the public sector, the wages and salaries grew by one percent in the latest three-month period. In April alone, the wages and salaries sum in the private sector grew by 5.9 per cent and in the public sector by 1.3 per cent.
 
The wages and salaries sum contracted by 0.5 per cent in the public sector and by 0.2 per cent in the private sector in the February to April period one year ago.
 
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options.
