FTimes – STT Report, Nov 3

Negotiations talk between the Post and Logistics Union (PAU) and the Service Sector Employers’ Association (Palta) were held on Monday under the watch of National Conciliator Minna Helle after the two parties failed to reach a consensus on Friday.

“I do not expect a quick resolution to the dispute,” Helle told the news agency STT after the meeting on Monday.

Helle also tweeted that the two parties will continue with negotiations on Tuesday.

PAU and Palta are schedule to meet Helle again next week.

The distribution of mail on Monday was hampered in different parts of the country following a walkout by postal employees.

The employees are opposed to plans by Posti to hire temporary workers from the service industry company SOL.

The term of the current collective bargaining agreement in the postal sector expired at the end of October.

If the negotiation does not result in a new agreement, the sector will turn into a non-agreement sector.
