The rise in consumption was caused by the frigid conditions experienced across the country.
The new record was set in the afternoon between 4.00pm and 5.00pm when the average power output per hour rose to a maximum of 15,100 megawatts.
The previous record of 14,900 MW was set in 2011.
The power supply was not in any danger at the peak time of consumption, said Fingrid.
The country produced 10,800 MW while approximately a quarter was imported from abroad.
The power plants operated without significant disruptions, said Fingrid.
“Almost all available power plants are already in use, however, the 300 MW reserve capacity has not yet been launched,” Fingrid said on Thursday evening.
The electricity consumption is also expected to remain high on Friday.
