The unemployment rate in Finland in the first quarter of this year was slightly above the EU av-erage, according to an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) report.

The report examines the unemployment rate at the beginning of the year in OECD countries. In April, the average unemployment rate was 8.7 percent in the EU. In Finland, it was 9.1 percent.

The highest unemployment rates in the EU are in Greece, Spain and Portugal.

EU unemployment levels have fallen since 2013, when the rate was 10.9 percent. In April, the figure was 9.4.

Unemployment in the EU area is still higher compared to other industrialised countries such as Australia, Japan and the US.
