A man was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years and six months in jail for killing his wife last year.
The court awarded the punishment to the man in his 50s as the allegations brought against the convict were proven beyond doubt, court sources said.
According to the court, the man murdered his wife at their home in Vantaa last October.
The accused had been drunk and under the influence of drugs at the time the crime was committed.
The man, according to the court, had become upset following a minor issue and lost control. He then picked a knife and stabbed his defenceless wife in their matrimonial bed.
The man had also hit his wife several times.
The man admitted to have committed the murder but does not remember the events, according to the court.
A psychiatric evaluation established that the accused was able to understand the consequences of his actions.
