The police were alerted to the apartment in Kuopio’s Itkonniemi neighbourhood at around 6:00pm. The alarm was received via emergency response centre.
Eastern Finland police Chief Inspector Juha Korhonen told the news agency STT that exact details such as gender and age of the children would not be available at the early stage of investigation.
“The reason is that not all close relatives have been informed of the happening,” said Korhonen.
The police are scheduled to brief the public about the incident at 2:00pm on Sunday.
