Healthcare workers in the Åland Islands go on strike at 2:00pm today.
The strike is called as mediation efforts between the Union of Health and Social Care Professionals-Tehy and the Åland provincial administration under the watch of national conciliator ended unsuccessfully on Tuesday night in Helsinki.
Both parties blamed each other for the failure. The possibility of continuing the negotiations remains unknown.
According to Tehy, the strike will cover all of its members who work for the provincial government service.
According to Senior Medical Officer Jaana Lignell, the situation is serious because personnel are not provided with sheltered employment from Tehy’s side.
