The government on Thursday appointed Olli-Pekka Rantala as the Director-General of the Ministry of Transport and Communication's Services Department for the next five years.
Rantala's term of office will commence on September 1 this year and end on August 31, 2021.
He has served as the Director-General of the Ministry's Data Department since January 2016.
Prior to this, he has worked as Unit Director in three different units within the Communications Policy Department.
He has also worked as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels.
The position of Director-General for the Services Department became open when the current Director-General Minna Kivimäki was chosen to be Finland's Coreper 1 representative as of 1 September 2016.
