Consumer confidence deteriorated for a third straight month in Europe in August, according to a preliminary estimate from the European Commission published Thursday.
The flash consumer confidence index for the 28-member European Union (EU) fell to minus 6.4, from minus 5.5 in July. At the same time, the confidence index for the 18-member euro zone declined by 1.6 points to minus 10.
The final figures will be released on Aug. 28.
