The Helsinki District Court on Wednesday sentenced the boyfriend of Miss Helsinki to five months’ conditional imprisonment for assaulting her.
The incident took place in January this year.
According to the court verdict, the man pulled his girlfriend's hair and put his boot to her neck for few seconds.
In addition, he spat on the victim, banged her head against the floor and smeared faeces on her hair. The woman suffered a concussion and had bruises.
The prosecutor sought more than a year in prison for the defendant but the court decided five months’ conditional imprisonment.
