The incident took place at about 10.30pm when a police patrol challenged a man who raised a handgun at the locality.
He did not obey police commands to drop the weapon, so the police used stun guns to apprehend the man.
The police also found two more handguns and several knives at the area.
In total, the police detained eight people, whose interrogations began Saturday morning.
The arrested include both men and women. None of them are residents of Jyväskylä. Some of them reside in Sweden, said the police.
The police said not a single shot was fired during the argument and arrest, and bystanders were in no danger.
The police detained the suspects on firearms offences and two menace charges.
