Sun, 16 Feb, 2014 03:18:02 AM FTimes Report, February 16 Source: Statistics Finland Retail trade sales in the country have decreased by 1.4 per cent in December 2013 from that in December 2012.
According to Statistics Finland, in daily consumer goods trade, sales rose by 0.2 per cent, while sales in department store trade went down by 1.7 per cent from one year ago.
Wholesale trade sales went up by 1.4 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 1.3 per cent. In total trade, sales rose in December by 0.4 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous year.
The sales volume in retail trade went down by 1.9 per cent in December. The sales volume in wholesale trade went up by 2.2 per cent and in motor vehicle sales by 1.7 per cent during the month compared to the same month a year ago.
Thus, sales increased in total trade by 0.7 per cent from the year before. The volume index of sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
However, sales fell in total trade by 3.1 per cent during the year 2013 compared to 2012
In the January to December period, retail trade sales grew by 0.1 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 2.2 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 14.7 per cent over the corresponding period.
