The Finnish Communication Regulatory Authority (FICORA) is going to impose strict rule in managing .fi domain for private persons from 2016, reported Finnish language newspaper Karjalainen.
The private persons will not be able to manage the domestic domain from the autumn of 2016 and the .fi-terminal domain can apply for and administer only through a registered domain broker.
The report said that the change will affect thousands of domain name holders as majority of the domain names have already turned into service providers.
According to the newspaper, some fear that the change of the network address management will raise costs for the companies.
FIROCA lawyer, however, told the newspaper that the consumers might even win following the change because of the competition.
