The National Police Board has decided to procure passports, personal identity cards, residence permit cards as well as related services from digital security company, Gemalto.
The bid winning Gemalto supplies passports and similar documents as well as SIM cards.
The police also represent the Finnish Immigration Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Population Register Centre.
According to Minna Gråsten, the head of permits, decision at the National Police Board will handle, for example, the supply of passports during the period of the new contract.
The current contract expires in 2016.
According to Gråsten, specific details will be made public after the procurement contract becomes official.
