A heatless summer has kept ice cream sales down.
 
Pekka Helin, sales director at Nestle Finland Oy, does not remember a single difficult summer for ice cream in 20 years.
 
Similar sentiments were echoed by a Helsinki ice cream plant entrepreneur, Annette Magi, who has been running the family business operations.
 
She termed it “The worst summer in our time.”
 
The season for the Helsinki ice cream plant is short, because the products are sold to outdoor kiosks.
 
Last year, a hot spell in July and August got hold of the cool early summer, but this year even the Indian summer would not save the situation
