Turnover in service industries grew by 3.3 per cent in April to June period from the corresponding time of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
 
One year previously, the turnover in service industries grew by 1.9 per cent over the same period. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.
 
In the second quarter, turnover in service industries still grew fastest in the main industry of information and communication, where growth amounted to 8.5 per cent year-on-year.
 
Of the sub-industries of information and communication activities, the growth has been fastest in software, consultancy and related activities that grew by 16.0 per cent from one year ago.
 
The turnover growth was also strong in information service activities, 13.4 per cent.
 
Turnover of enterprises in the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation went up by 7.1 per cent in the second quarter.
 
At the same time, growth in professional, scientific and technical activities amounted to 5.6 per cent, which was in particular affected by favourable turnover development in legal and accounting activities and in architectural and engineering activities.
 
Among main service industries turnover decreased only in transportation and storage in April to June as per the statistics.
 
The turnover in road and railway traffic declined by 0.5 per cent and that of warehousing and support activities for transportation by 0.9 per cent, while turnover in water traffic increased by 5.1 per cent year-on-year.
