Turnover in service industries grew by 3.7 per cent in June to August from the corresponding time period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
 
One year previously, turnover in service industries increased by 3.2 per cent over the same period. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.
 
In the June to August period, the turnover grew in all main service industries from one year ago.
 
Among the main service industries, turnover growth was fastest in professional, scientific and technical activities, where turnover went up by 7.8 per cent year-on-year.
 
Of the sub-industries of professional, scientific and technical activities, the strongest development was seen in the turnover of architectural and engineering activities, where turnover grew by 9.0 per cent in June to August compared to one year earlier.
 
Other professional, scientific and technical activities also grew by 8.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year, the data show.
 
Turnover development was weakest in advertising and market research, where the growth compared to June to August 2014 amounted to only 2.2 per cent.
 
Among the main service industries, turnover development was still weakest in transportation and storage, where turnover grew by 0.8 per cent from one year ago.
 
Of the sub-industries of transportation and storage, turnover has developed most favourably in water transport, where turnover grew by 6.8 per cent in June to August compared to one year earlier. Over the same period, turnover in road and railway transport grew by only 1.1 per cent from one year ago.
