The total amount of wages and salaries of the whole economy was 1.2 per cent greater during July to September than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
 
In September alone, the wages and salaries sum increased by 1.8 per cent year-on-year.
 
In July to September 2014, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 0.5 per cent.
 
The wages and salaries sum grew in all main industries in July to September with the exception of education ser-vices provided by the private sector (-1.3 %).
 
The wages and salaries sum grew fastest in construction (4.4 %). The wages and salaries sum also increased in private health and social work services (2.9 %), other services (2.7 %), financial intermediation (2.4 %), trade (0.9 %) and manufacturing (0.2 %), the data show.

The total amount of wages and salaries sum in the private sector was 2.3 per cent greater in the July to September period than in the respective time period twelve months earlier.
Over the same period, the wages and salaries sum of the public sector declined by 0.9 per cent year-on-year.
 
In September alone, the wages and salaries sum in the private sector increased by 3.1 per cent. In  the public sector, the wages and salaries sum declined by 0.5 per cent from one year earlier.
 
In the July to September period one year ago the wages and salaries sum grew by 0.8 per cent in the private sector and by 0.5 per cent in the public sector from the year before, according to the statistics.
 
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options.
 
The pay sum is influenced by changes in employment and in the earnings level of wage and salary earners.
