FTimes Report, Mar 25

Producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 4.1 per cent year-on-year in February 2016, according to Statistics Finland.

The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 3.9 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 4.5 per cent.

The fall in the producer prices was particularly caused by reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals and electricity from February 2015.

The fall in producer prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of paper and paper board products and manufacturing of machinery and equipment.

The export price index fell by 4.5 per cent and the import price index by 8.2 per cent in the year.

The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 4.2 per cent while the Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes fell by 3.7 per cent, the statistics show.

Export prices were in particular depressed by the falling prices of oil products and manufacturing of basic metals from February 2015.

The fall in prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of paper and paper board products.

The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of oil products and manufacturing of basic metals compared with the previous year's February.

The fall in prices was slowed down, in particular, by higher prices of paper and paper board products.

Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.8 per cent from January to February, mainly due to lower prices of manufacturing of basic metals from the previous month.
