Finnish dairy company Valio on Tuesday announced the sale of its leaven production plant in Tikkurila, Vantaa as well as its LGG trademark and its related business to the Danish food com-pany Chr. Hansen.
 
A total of 17 workers are employed at the Tikkurila plant. The plant has been producing Lacto-bacillales, processed sour whole milk, cheese acidification for Valio. 
 
About 60 percent of the products are for export.
 
“An important element in the deal is closer co-operation between the two companies’ world lead-ing innovations teams, which will further strengthen the impressive science backing LGG®,” said Annikka Hurme, CEO of Valio OY in a statement by Chr. Hansem.
 
According to Chr. Hansen, price of the acquisition is 73 million euros and will be funded through Chr. Hansen’s own cash position and existing credit facilities.
