Sun, 03 Feb, 2013 01:39:03 AM FTimes Report, February 3 A Finnish skier was killed last week after falling from a valley in Japanese island of Hokkaido at Niseko area, according to reports published in number of Finnish language newspaper on Saturday. The Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of Finnish national, reported Ilta Sanomat and Kaleva quoting a local news agency. The accident took place on January 27 due to a landslide where another Japanese national also died, said the reports. Meanwhile, another Finnish language newspaper Lapin Kansa reported that a strong magnitude earthquake jolted the Hokkaido of the Asian country Japan on Saturday. Referring to Japanese Kyodo news agency, the report said that the magnitude of the tremor was 6.9 in Richter scale. No human casualty was, however, reported in the tremor. The quake struck just under 200 kilometers of land in the east of Sapporo. It was the center of more than a hundred miles deep and not as a result of the tsunami warning. Japan's public broadcaster NHK's nuclear power plants in the region are still closed to the Fukushima nuclear disaster, the prescribed safety checks. Fukushima nuclear power plant was severely damaged by the earthquake and tsunami two years ago.
