The opposition parties challenges the bill and criticized it during the debate held on Wednesday but failed gain support on Friday to oppose it. 35 lawmakers, however, were abstained the vote during the motion. Earlier The parliament on Wednesday failed to take decision on mid-term Housing policy despite holding day long debate between the treasury bench and the opposition.
The minister, however, said that the government was looking for a suitable proposal to finalize the interim housing policy . The debate raised following the proposal of the opposition Center Party lawmaker, Kimmo Tiilikainen who expected the government action to this effect. He said that the housing market was facing difficulties because of high demand and less supply. He has blamed the unskilled construction work where system loss is core of the paradox.
The Perussuomalainen (True Finns) party is planning to place a housing policy in spring. Housing Minister, Kiuru said that the government has extensive housing plan in the budget session, which is to construct about 2500 rented house in Helsinki area each year. She pointed out that house rent should be rational and need to look at the situation for general interest. The minister also urged that investors consider the house rent matter from the aspect of rationality.
