Preliminary investigations will not be initiated into the actions of police in their attempt to apprehend the Oulu axe killer.
 
According to the Lapland district prosecutor, police did not commit any offence during the operation.
 
The suspect succumbed to his injuries sustained from gun shots by police at his Myllyoja residence during a raid to arrest him.
 
According to the prosecutor, the use of weapon by police was necessary to repel the attack in an act of defence.
 
The suspect had suddenly attacked a police officer with an axe at his resident.
 
The axe landed on the officer’s helmet, prompting police to use a gun.
 
The perpetrator stood up to hit the police officer again forcing the officer to use the gun again.
 
The perpetrator born in 1979 and of immigrant background reportedly killed two people on January 15 at a bar in Tiura district of Oulu.
 
He is also suspected of two counts of attempted murder.
