The Finnish navy has confirmed reports in Sweden that the naval forces of the two countries have introduced a secured telephone communication line, reported commercial broadcaster MTV. According to the report, the secured line was used for the first time on January 12, 2015. The call was made from a naval operations centre in Turku to Sweden, and the conversation was held between the Finnish Naval Chief of Staff and his Swedish counterpart. The report was first confirmed in Swedish Armed Forces blog. The secured line is to be used for transmission of classified information. According to the Finnish Navy, Finland and Sweden have long been cooperating on the development of the defence of the two countries.
"Transmission of reliable information is a key prerequisite for all operational cooperation," said Annele Apajakari, Chief Public Information Officer of the Finnish Navy. More News
