Protruding metal bars and sheets of glass have been found in the bathing waters of Helsinki’s Töölönlahti Bay, said the Fire and Rescue Service.

The Fire and Rescue Service has therefore banned the use of the jetty and swimming in the area around the Kahvila Tyyni.

Rescue department communications chief Taisto Hakala said it could be a malicious act or an attempt to hide building waste.

The dangerous structures are being removed from the water.

The Helsinki police are assessing the situation and evaluating a formal investigation.
