The motorist is also charged with aggravated endangerment of traffic, as well as fleeing the scene of an accident.
The car and cyclist collided Wednesday in Töölö, Helsinki at the intersection between Tukholmankatu and Mannerheimintie, throwing the cyclist into the street. The cyclist died in the hospital later that afternoon.
The suspect, born 1980, fled the scene of the accident. The police caught him the day after the collision.
The man is being charged with manslaughter, which carries a sentence between four and ten years of imprisonment.
According to the police, no witnesses of the accident have come forward.
