The aggregate wages and salaries was 1.6% higher in the August-October period than, compared to the same period last year, according to Statistics Finland.
 
In October alone, wages and salaries grew by 1.8% on a year-on-year basis. 
 
In the August-October period one year ago, wages and salaries grew by 2.5%, the statistics say.
 
In the same period, wages and salaries grew in all the main industries with the exception of manufacturing (-2.2 %) and education services provided by the private sector, where growth came to a halt. 
 
The growth was fastest in private health and social work services (+6.0%).
 
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options.
 
The sum is influenced by changes in employment and in the earning level of wage and salary earners.
