Karl-Henrik Sundström has been named the new CEO of the pulp, paper and biomaterial manufacturer Stora Enso.

Sundström, 54, takes over officially from 1st of August. Currently, he is the head of Printing and Living Division at Stora Enso.

The chair of Stora Enso board, Gunnar Brock, said Sundström’s choice was based on his wealth of experience in global industry and his strong background in financial management. “His choice within Stora Enso brings continuity to the management and the strategic path the company has chosen.”

Sundström has been with Stora Enso for two years. Previously, he had worked the Dutch NXP Semiconductors and Ericksson.

Jouko Karvinen, the outgoing CEO of Stora Enso, announced in April that he was leaving the company.

Karvinen, who has been the CEO for seven years, informed the board last year of his intention to leave his position.

Stora Enso on Tuesday also announced that it would postpone the reorganisation of its Renewable Packaging Division. The reorganization was expected to be completed in the beginning of July.
