The national food safety authority, Evira last year issued marketing ban against 39 seed entrepreneurs for regulatory violations.
 
Evira detected the violations in around 200 seed inspections. 
 
The remarks were made on sale of uncertified potato seeds at market squares as well packaging that does not comply with the regulations.
 
Most of the violations were made by selling uncertified seeds via the print media and on the internet.
 
Marketing ban was also issued on sales of such lettuce and carrot seeds that did not meet germination requirements.
 
Only the sale of certified seeds for horticultural purposes is permitted in the country.
