Finance Minister Antti Rinne on Friday told the Parliamentary Grand Committee that barriers to investment will be one of the main agenda in the Eurogroup and ECOFIN meeting next week.

The Eurogroup and Council of the European Union (Economic and Financial Affairs - ECOFIN) meeting, which brings together the finance ministers from all the EU member states, will be held on Monday and Tuesday in Brussels.

Rinne said, in addition to reviewing the investment regulations, the discussion will also centre on small- and medium-sized enterprise funding, including various instruments to finance investments, as well as their operating conditions.

The economic recovery of EU member states will also arise during the current presidency of the Council of the European Union programme held by Italy. The presidency rotates among the EU member states every six months.

One of the main objectives in the next six months is to accelerate EU’s economic growth and create more jobs.

The EU finance ministers will also be expected to shed light on the state of Greece’s adjustment programme.

“It seems Greece’s revenue and expenditure now corresponds to each other, if you do not take into account the debt-servicing costs,” said Rinne.
