Finnish fast food chain Hesburger is planning to open a restaurant in Bangladesh, reported Finnish language journal Sunnuntaisuomalainen.

The company had been planning for a long time to open a restaurant in the Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh according to Heikki Salmela, the chair of the company's board.

The restaurant is likely to be opened at the end of next year.

According to the report, expanding the chain to the Middle East is also possible.

"We are still having negotiations going on in several Arab countries," Salmela told Sunnuntaisuomalainen.

Hesburger once had a restaurant in Damascus, Syria from 2004 to 2006.

Currently the fast food chain has over 400 restaurants in eight countries.

Hesburger has been active in charity work in Dhaka since 2011 where it cooperates with charity organisation Fida International in a slum school project that supports 400 children.
