The value of new orders in manufacturing was 4.6 percentage points lower in June this year compared to 12 months earlier. 
 
According to the Statistics Finland, new orders grew without interruption for four months before June and rose 2.3 percentage points year-on-year in the January-June period.
 
Enterprises received more orders than 12 months ago only in the main textile industry. In other manufacturing main industries, the worth of orders decreased from the year before. New orders in the metal industry went down by 5.4 per cent year-on-year in June.
 
In the chemical industry orders declined by 2.2 per cent and in the paper and paper board manufacturing industry by 4.7 per cent from one year ago.

The Statistics Finland says while interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong monthly fluctuations. 
 
The index of new orders in manufacturing describes development in the value of new orders received by enterprises for commodities and services that are meant to be produced by establishments located in Finland. These statistics are based on non-probability sampling, in which the basic observation unit is an enterprise or a kind-of-activity unit. 
 
The sample comprises 400 to 450 enterprises or their kind-of-activity units.
