The sanctions imposed by the Russian government on import of agricultural and food products from European Union member states would not hamper cross-border shopping from Finland.

Russian tourists are allowed to buy foods and groceries from Finnish markets and there would be no bar on their returning along with the goods, said the Russian customs on its website.

The Russian government on Thursday slapped ban on certain agricultural and food imports. The ban covers certain meats, meat products and meat sub-products, milk and dairy products (including cheese), root vegetables, vegetables, fruits and nuts, food products based on vegetable oil, and fish, shellfish, scallops and other aquatic invertebrates from the EU, the United States, Canada, Australia and Norway.

The import ban is to last for a year from its announcement.
