An official from the European Union (EU) said on Monday that Europe will develop a digital market through investment strategy, boosting further consumption.
Vice-President of the European Commission Andrus Ansip said Europe really needs more investment in digital to fulfill funding gap.
"we are still a long way from a truly connected digital single market," he said.
According to him, for Europe area, only 14 percent percent of small and medium-sized businesses use the Internet to sell online, while only 12 percent of European consumers shop across borders due to lack of necessary telecom infrastructure.
He called the EU's 300-billion-euro (about 369 billion U.S. dollars) investment strategy as good news for broadband and digital projects.
"I have no doubt that digital will play a significant role, with communication networks as well as infrastructure," he said.
