Building permits were granted for a total of 8.9 million cubic metres in March to May 2015, which is 16.3 per cent less than the corresponding period one year ago, according to Statistics Finland's data.
 
At the same time, 8.9 per cent more building projects were started than last year but the constant-price volume of building production remained 8.2 per cent lower than one year ago, as per the data based on statistics on building and dwelling production.
 
During March to May, building permits were granted for a total of 7,300 apartments, which is 28.3 per cent less than one year ago.

Measured by volume, 33.8 per cent less building permits were granted for residential buildings in the period than one year earlier.
 
Four per cent more residential buildings were, however, started than one year ago.
 
The volume of ongoing building production during the period decreased by 12.5 per cent from one year back.
