This is the first One Way branch in Rovaniemi. The brand is also available in other big cities like Helsinki, Kuopio and Oulu.
This Finnish brand focuses on winter sports and bicycling. The products available are equipment, clothes and accessories for cross-country, slalom skiing and other ice sports. They also offer ski and bicycle fixing services.
“It has started well,” said the shop owner, Kari Jokelainen, remarking on the response received since its opening on October 22.
According to Jokelainen, who has eight years of experience in sport equipment business, winter sport in general and cross-country skiing in particular are getting increasingly popular in Rovaniemi. So the city needs a shop specialised in winter sport.
With the winter just around the corner, the shop has opened at just about the right time, with seven kilometres of last season’s snow set up on Ounasvaara for cross-country skiing.
The demand for winter sport equipment is really on the rise, said Jokelainen, adding that there is also a good scope for providing equipment and services to tourists. Many Korean tourists, according to him, have already visited the shop to buy winter sport items.
The shop at Rovakatu 19 is right in the city centre. There are now five sport equipment outlets there. “The competition is tough, but if you are specialised and provide good services, there are good chances,” observed Jokelainen. More News
