Turnnover in manufacturing in the April to June period was 0.8 per cent higher than in the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

Domestic sales grew by 1.7 per cent and export turnover by 0.1 per cent from one year ago.

The turnover went up from the corresponding period of the previous year in nearly all manufacturing sub-industries .

The turnover grew most in the textile, clothing and leather industry, by 7.5 per cent, and in the forest and chemical industries, by 3.1 per cent. Less turnover than in the previous year was generated in the metal industry, 2.3 per cent, and in the electrical and electronics industry, 2.5 per cent as per the data.

In the main categories of other industries turnover in mining and quarrying increased by 6.0 per cent, and in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 1.2 per cent from one year before.

 The turnover contracted from the previous year by 3.7 per cent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

The index of turnover in industry describes enterprises whose main industry is manufacturing.
