The agriculture and forestry ministry on Wednesday said the milk production exceptional support will be available at the turn of November and December.

A total of 15 million euros has been allocated for supporting the dairy sector to be used during the first five months of the next year.

Half of the support comes from the EU crisis funding and the other half from the state.

The support is intended for the temporary and voluntary restriction of milk production in order to stabilise the milk market.

The EU market in recent years has seen a significant oversupply of milk.

In addition, the continuing ban on food imports imposed by Russia in August 2014 has created a difficult economic situation for the dairy farms, especially in Finland.

The new regulation concerning the adjustment aid has been sent for comments by legislators.
