Police suspects involvement in fighting
FTimes-STT Report, March 2

At least a dozen of people have left Finland for Syria since the last year and they are suspected to be involved in the fightings there, according to the intelligence report of the police.

The Ylitarkastaja (Inspector General) of the Intelligence department, Tuomas Portaankorva said that the people who left Finland to Syria more than a year ago are probably acting as active force in the crisis zone there.

Although the people made the visit on the ground of humanitarian assistance to Syria, the police ruled out the possibility of any positive outcome from their visit.

The intelligence believed that It might make them more radical because of their close attachment with the fighters.

The Intelligence department, however, did not give any more detail about the departure of the group.

But the intelligence department, considering all perspectives observed that even if the various groups or level of the people living in Finland maintain some kind of connection with the radical groups abroad, the possibility of creating any threat of terrorism in Finland is very low.

The department estimated that the number of the people, who have link with the redical  groups outside of Finland is not more than three digits.
