The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will participate in the SuomiAreena public debate forum beginning from July 17 in Pori, said a press release of the ministry on Monday.
 
The press release said that the three-day event will be held at the Promenade Centre (Yrjönkatu 17) and will remain open every day from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm.
 
Several panel discussions will also be held and be open to the public.
 
The panel discussion organised by the ministry on 17 July will address the influence of Finland and the Nordic countries in the UN.
 
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will publish its new UN strategy on the day.
 
The Foreign Ministry's marquee at the SuomiAreena's Civic Marketplace will be open throughout the event.
 
The latest information about Finland's development policy, consular services and European affairs will be available at the marquee.
 
The "Nordic Soul Searching" panel discussion will highlight the question of how the influence of Finland and the Nordic countries in the UN and the world at large has changed and why Finland needs the UN.
 
The Foreign Ministry's marquee at the Civic Marketplace of the SuomiAreena event, located at the market square of Pori, will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily from Wednesday, 17 July to Friday, 19 July.
 
Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will be present at the Foreign Ministry's marquee on Thursday, 18 July at 12:00-12:30 pm.
 
SuomiAreena is an annual event that takes place in Pori. It brings together well-known Finnish leaders to discuss topical issues.
