A cyclist was crushed under the wheels of a passenger car at a pedestrian crossing at Seinäjoki on Monday morning.
 
The accident took place in front of the Market near Kuortaneentie roundabout.
 
The private car and the cyclist both veered off the right side of the road after the accident.
 
The victim is a man born in 1959 and a native of Seinäjoki.
 
The police have appealed for witnesses.
 
In another incident, a cyclist was run over by a cargo train in Southwest Finland town of Uusikaupunki on Monday.
 
The rescue department received the alarm at 11:50 am about the accident which took place at a light traffic bridge located adjacent to the unprotected level crossing point at Rantakatu.
 
The victim was a young man born in 1993.
 
The chief fire fighter on duty said that based on preliminary information the cause of the death seemed to suggest an accident.
 
The driver of the locomotive is not suspected of any offence.
