Asylum seekers will not be repatriated to Hungary, reported the national broadcaster Yle.

The Administrative Court of Helsinki has suspended the repatriation because of an uncertainty about whether asylum seekers will be accorded appropriate treatment in Hungary.

Finnish Immigration Service spokesperson Virpi Leinonen confirmed that the court has barred the execution of repatriation decisions on asylum seekers considered to belong to Hungary.

According to the Dublin Regulation, an asylum application has to be processed in the country where the asylum seeker is registered.

Since September last year, no asylum seeker in the country who has appealed against repatriation to Hungary has been returned.

The case applies to a few dozen people.

According to Leinonen, the immigration service will monitor international and European court rulings and, if necessary, it will repeal its decision-making.
