Summer cottage barometer

Every one out of three Finns would like to work remotely from a cottage, according to a summer cottage barometer commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Currently, about 60,000 Finns work remotely from summer cottages.

The survey confirmed the popularity of summer cottages in the country. On average, the summer cottages are used for 79 days in a year.

The cottages are also well equipped nowadays. A third of the cottages are suitable for use throughout the year. Internet connection is available in almost every third cottage.

There are about 600,000 leisure homes in the country which are used regularly by 2.4 million people.

Three out of five respondents who owned a summer cottage outside the municipality of residency supported dual municipal resident model.

The summer cottage barometer was based on the responses of 5,000 leisure home owners as well as statistical and research data.
