Arctech Helsinki shipyard has received a 300 million euro order to build three icebreakers for the Russian shipping company Sovcomflot, according to Finnish language daily Turun Sanomat.

The newspaper reported that the shipyard will build three icebreakers for the Russian shipping company Sovcomflot.

The icebreakers are designed by the Finnish engineering company Aker Arctic.

Sovcomflot has agreed to acquire the vessels together with Russia's largest shipping company United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).

USC owns half of the Helsinki shipyard while the other half is under the ownership of STX Finland.

The vessels will be built by Russian and Finnish shipbuilders.

In April, the Helsinki shipyard received an order for an icebreaking supply vessel from Sovcomflot.

The Helsinki shipyard has previously built two icebreaking vessels for Sovcomflot which were delivered in 2012 and 2013.
