The year-on-year change in consumer prices increased to 1.1 per cent in August from 0.8 per cent in July, according to the Statistics Finland.

The slight acceleration in inflation was mainly caused by higher prices of cucumbers and tomatoes.

In August, consumer prices were pushed up most from the previous year by rise in rents, increases in the retail prices of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages, and higher prices of restaurant and café services.

The rising of consumer prices was curbed most in August by fallen prices of clothing and entertainment electronics from the year before, the data show.
