FTimes-STT Report, Sept 17

The government has launched statutory negotiations with employees at the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres), confirmed a release from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.

The government saving targets set at 33 million euros until 2018 and the 56 million euro reduction of European Union structural funds for the period 2014-2020 have been attributed as the reasons for the initiation of the co-determination talks.

The negotiations will cover 3,300 employees and the reduction need is estimated at 700 man-years.

“Of course, we are trying (so) that consequences of the savings on personnel would be as small as possible but..... unfortunately we are unable to do without reducing the staff,” said the director general at Ministry of Employment and the Economy.

The final decision is expected to be reached in January 2015.
