According to the company, the negotiations may see up to 122 employees laid off.
The negotiations cover employees at the company’s modem development business. As many as 92 employees in Turku may face axe and 30 in Oulu.
Currently, Ericsson has 120 employees in Turku and over 70 in Oulu.
The company intends to shift from development of modems.
Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg told news agency Reuters that the decision to quit the modem business will mean that 1,000 employees would have to leave.
According to Ericsson, Finland remains an important hub in research and product development.
The company employs more than a thousand people here, the majority of whom work in Kirkkonummi.
