The City of Tampere announced on Thursday that it is going to initiate statutory negotiations to save 10 million euros this year.
The negotiations will, however, not result in redundancies, said City of Tampere Human Resource Director Niina Pietikäinen.
The city is looking to make savings by extending the practice of using voluntary staff as well as saving in procurement and recruitment.
“These kinds of talks are quite normal. It is not the same as the statutory negotiations like in the corporate world,” Pietikäinen said.
Similar negotiations have in the past been initiated, Pietikäinen added.
